Council Recognises Service to its Community

At its Full Council meeting held on the 17th of January 2021 Christchurch Town Council acknowledged dedication and service to its community. The Council’s “Meritorious Awards” recognise:

Individuals, groups, organisations or businesses who, in the opinion of the Council:-

(a) have rendered valuable service to Christchurch over a number of years, or

(b) have gained an achievement of national or international significance, or

(c) deserve recognition for an act or acts of bravery, or

(d) have reached a level of achievement of the highest distinction.

The scheme has been in existence since 1988.

This Year the Council gave the individual award to Mr Peter Fenning in recognition of his services to ecology and heritage and his works for many voluntary organisations within Christchurch over 20 years.

The organisational award was granted to the Trustees of Druitt Hall Community Association in recognition of their exceptional work and contribution to Christchurch in managing and providing the exceptional Druitt Hall as a key community asset and space in Christchurch.
